Course Overview
AWARE: Understanding the Foundations of Inclusion
Inclusion starts with awareness; it is the groundwork for understanding the core principles of equity, diversity and inclusion, and why they matter in today’s music and creative industries
In this course you will explore the current state of diversity and inequality across the sector, using real-world data and trends to challenge common myths and stereotypes. The module breaks down key concepts — from equality vs equity to diversity vs inclusion — and introduces the legal responsibilities set out in European Directives and United Nations Sustainable Goals. It also examines how unconscious bias shapes decision-making, and introduces practical tools like the A→E System to help reduce bias in creative environments. Finally, you will reflect on your personal values, behaviours, and leadership style to develop greater self-awareness and confidence.
