3 Barriers to Inclusion in Music
Instructor
Vick Bain
Course Overview
In this course, you’ll examine the barriers that limit inclusion in music, using intersectionality as a key framework. We begin by defining the concept through the work of Professor Kimberlé Crenshaw, before exploring the lived experiences of those who face multiple, overlapping forms of inequality. You’ll consider how these barriers play out in the music industry and reflect on their impact on creativity, opportunity, and representation. An individual reflection assignment will help you connect these insights to your own practice and environment. In total this course should take no longer than 90 minutes.
