Course Overview
In this couse, you’ll explore the essential building blocks of equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI). We begin with the core principles and the legal frameworks that shape practice across the European Union, including equality legislation and the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights. You’ll then move into practical exercises to spot breaches of equality in real-world scenarios. Finally, we look at why language matters, and introduce key EDI terminology to help you build confidence and precision. Quizzes and assignments will reinforce your learning throughout and should take no more than one hour.

What You'll Learn?

- Aimed at those who work in diversity conscious startups & SMEs, music and creative organisations, cultural institutions, sector bodies, and those in music education or as a self-employed music professional. As light-touch introductions, the courses are beginner-friendly and provide an accessible entry point into EDI.
- Each lesson may contain several slides. Look at the bottom left-hand corner to view them all.
- To move between lessons, use the dark red navigation buttons with arrows: forward on the right, back on the left.
- Most lessons include an audio file, found at the bottom of the page. These recordings are designed to support accessibility, for example, making the content easier to follow for people with sight impairments, and helping all learners engage with the material in different ways.
- After completing a lesson, under Course Content tick the box next to the book icon to mark it as complete.
- Each course includes a short written assignment. Please upload either a Word document or pdf. The assignments require manual approval, so your progress will only update once it’s been checked.
- When all lessons are marked complete and your progress shows as 100%, return to the course overview page to download your Certificate.
